The Australian government subsidizes home Care Packages to help older (and infirm) Australians get the help they need while still maintaining some of their independence.
They are designed for needs judged too complex to be catered for by the Commonwealth Home Support Programme.
These Home Care packages cover a wide range of personal care and support services, including household chores and cleaning tasks.
The package funding enables you to remain living safely in your own home even when age and illness have restricted your ability to do the day-to-day tasks you once took for granted.
An assessment is made to establish your specific needs, and a means-tested package is agreed upon.
You then allocate this package with your home care package providers according to where it is needed most.

Your package is made according to your particular needs, and your contribution is means-tested. A basic daily fee is applied, then topped up by the government.
Level 1 approx. 2 hours per week (on average)
Level 2 approx. 3-4 hours per week (on average)
Level 3 approx. 7-9 hours per week (on average)
Level 4 approx. 10-13 hours per week (on average)
A Level 1 is about $8,000. You are free to utilize home care package funds however you choose on any services or care that will enable you to remain safely at home. Yes, you may use it for cleaning!
